PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Washington Wizards announced Sunday that they have assigned Chris McCullough to the Northern Arizona Suns, per the league’s flexible assignment rule.
McCullough returns to Northern Arizona where he played 12 games last season. He averaged 10.9 points and 5.3 assists for the NAZ Suns, getting assigned on March 3, 2017.
He is expected to be available for today’s game against the Reno Bighorns at the Prescott Valley Event Center. Tip-off is slated for 3 p.m. MT.
This marks the 23rd career assignment for McCullough, the second this season. He was assigned to the Wisconsin Herd on Jan. 3 earlier this year where he played five games, averaging 12.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. He was recalled by the Wizards on Jan. 17.
McCullough (6-9, 215) has played 19 games with the Wizards this season, averaging 2.4 points and 1.3 rebounds in 4.7 minutes per game. Drafted out of Syracuse by the Brooklyn Nets with the 29th overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, McCullough has averaged 3.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 59 regular season games (four starts) in 9.0 minutes per contest in his NBA career.
In 48 career NBA G League games, the 23-year-old has averaged 15.8 points and 7.1 rebounds, playing with the Long Island Nets, the Suns and Herd. He was named a NBA G League All-Star for his play with Long Island last year, finishing his 31-game stint there averaging 18.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.
