The Northern Arizona Suns announced their 15-man training camp roster following the 2016 NBA Development League Draft. The NAZ Suns welcome back five returning players, two affiliate players, four draft picks and four local tryout players.
The NAZ Suns drafted four players in the 2016 NBA D-League Draft on Sunday. The Suns selected guard Michael Bryson (8th overall), guard Mikh McKinney (2nd round, 25th overall), forward Greg Mays (2nd round, 30th overall) and center Ralph Sampson III (5th round, 86th overall). Bryson played for the 2016 Phoenix Suns Summer League team and averaged 2.6 points per game in five contests. In his last season at University of California, Santa Barbara, Bryson led his team in scoring with 18.0 points per game. McKinney and Mays both played overseas last season. McKinney scored 7.2 points per game with the Port of Antwerp Giants, while Mays recorded 21.7 points per game with the Albury Wodonga Bandits. Sampson has played in the D-League for three seasons. Last year he scored 4.0 points per game with the Maine Red Claws.
Gracin Bakumanya and Shaquille Harrison are both attending training camp as affiliate players following their participation in the Phoenix Suns training camp in September. Bakumanya, a 6-foot 11-inch, 220-pound center is a native of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and played the 2015-16 season in France. Harrison played his collegiate career at the University of Tulsa where he averaged 11.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Returning players include Bo Barnes, Askia Booker, Derek Cooke Jr., Elijah Millsap and Xavier Silas. Last season Silas averaged 18.5 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists for Bakersfield. Before being called up by the Utah Jazz in 2014-15, Millsap averaged 20.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game for Bakersfield in 19 contests that same season. Booker scored 12.7 points per game with the Jam last season, while Cooke recorded 4.8 points per game.
The NAZ Suns also invited four participants from their local tryouts held earlier this fall. Daniel Alexander, a former forward for Grand Canyon University averaged 10.9 points per game during his two years with GCU. Also invited are Josh Gray, Langston Morris-Walker and Chandler, Arizona, native Asaad Woods.
The NAZ Suns inaugural season tips off on Saturday, November 12th at 7PM, against the Iowa Energy at the Prescott Valley Event Center and are excited to bring affordable, family-friendly entertainment and quality basketball to Northern Arizona. A variety of season ticket membership packages are available, with packages starting as low as $8 per game for the full season.
