PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona Suns announced Friday that they have acquired forward Mike Young as a returning player.
Young is back with the NAZ Suns where he played 19 games on a Two-Way contract with the Washington Wizards. Because the Wizards do not have an NBA G League affiliate, they transferred him to Northern Arizona pursuant to the league’s flexible two-way rule on Nov. 13.
Washington waived Young on Wednesday. He signed into the NBA G League Friday after clearing waivers in the NBA.
Young was activated by NAZ just before tonight’s game against the Reno Bighorns at the Reno Events Center. The 6-foot 9-inch, 235-pound forward did not miss a game with the NAZ Suns since being waived. He tallied eight points on 4-of-8 shooting and two rebounds in 17 minutes against the Bighorns tonight in the Suns’ 125-104 win.
Young is now averaging 11.4 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 20 games (14 starts) with the Suns.
The University of Pittsburgh alum began his tenure in the NBA G League with the Delaware 87ers, where he averaged 16.5 points and 4.3 rebounds in four games.
