PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Northern Arizona Suns announced Thursday they will play a preseason game against the South Bay Lakers.
The game will take place at UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo, California, on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 5 p.m. MST.
This will mark the second preseason game in NAZ Suns history.
The Suns hosted the South Bay Lakers, who were the Los Angeles D-Fenders at the time, last season for a preseason game on Nov. 6. It took place at the Prescott Valley Event Center and marked the Suns’ first appearance in Prescott Valley.
Derrick Jones Jr. led all Suns scorers in the preseason contest with 18 points.
During the 2016-17 regular season, the Suns went 1-3 against the D-Fenders with all four games extremely competitive.
First, the Suns lost their only game of their first 11 contests at Los Angeles in a double-overtime thriller that saw Northern Arizona come all the way back from 31 points down.
Following a 10-point loss to the D-Fenders where Johnny O’Bryant scored 37 points, the Suns played their first home game against Los Angeles and won 117-113.
To conclude the four-game set, Northern Arizona hosted the D-Fenders for their inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness Night. There the team from Prescott Valley rallied again from a big deficit to just a three-point difference with two minutes left.
