PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. – The Phoenix Suns announced Monday that they have re-assigned Derrick Jones Jr. to the Northern Arizona Suns.
This marks Jones’ fourth assignment of the season and 10th of his career. Following a nine-day assignment from Nov. 11-19, Jones was recalled by Phoenix on Sunday.
He returned to the Phoenix Suns’ bench for their win against the Chicago Bulls last night, but did not play, per coach’s decision. The 6-foot 7-inch, 195-pound forward is averaging 1.4 points on 50 percent shooting and 0.6 rebounds per game in five contests for Phoenix this season.
Jones has played five games for the NAZ Suns this season, averaging 12.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.0 blocks in 32.0 minutes per game.
He had a career-day against the Iowa Wolves at the Prescott Valley Event Center on Nov. 11 in the Suns’ 124-119 overtime win. He recorded career-highs in points (24), rebounds (13), assists (five), field goals made (10) and field goals attempted (19), to go with three blocks and two steals.
The NAZ Suns roster now holds 13 players. They next play on Tuesday night against the Austin Spurs at the Prescott Valley Event Center at 6:30 p.m.
